那个星期六的傍晚，用过晚餐后，我驾车载了母亲，两个孩子和家务助理去海边乘凉。母亲看顾着只有十个月大的莱纳斯（Linus）而我带着女儿妮妠（Linette）四处散步。忽然间不远处起了一阵骚动，家务助理往前去看发生了什么事，回来汇报，“夫人，有渔船回到岸边，满载而归，售卖鲜鱼，您要不要买些回去。”好奇心驱使之下我跟她去人群那边看看，也想买些鲜鱼回去。当我选好了鲜鱼和付款后，我才发觉三岁的女儿妮妠失踪了。

我作为两个幼小孩子的母亲，我最可怕的经历是当时只有三岁的女儿妮妠（Linette）在东海岸公园沙滩失踪。天暗下来，人群逐渐离开沙滩。这事情发生在1975年7月的一个星期六傍晚，当时我母亲从加拿大来我家住了一年而我的先生去了澳大利亚上一个课程。

0606 – 0638 hrs. Morning walking exercise along the pavement at my HDB estate, the distance was about 1.5km, it usually took me 20 minutes to complete a round. However, this morning a man was smoking on the pavement. I did not want to Inhale the smoke and I detoured, it took me 22 minutes to complete the walk.

Smoking on pavement should be prohibited.

0606 - 0638时。晨运步行，在我家组屋区人行道上步行，距离约1.5公里，通常我花20分钟。然而，今天早上，有一个人站在人行道抽烟。我不想吸入二手烟，只好绕道，花了22分钟才能完成行走一圈。

在人行道上吸烟应该被禁止。

Chinese Radio Station  广播电台

The Chinese Radio Station broadcast 24 hours daily, but there was no DJ between 0000 and 0600hrs. Songs played during the period would be by pre-set computer program. Many audiences have requested to let them know the singers and the title of the songs before and after playing the songs. No avail, that is the technical issue.

Advance preparation is very important for a job to be done. The Chinese Radio Station begin at 0600hrs, be sure that to play the national anthem on time, and then announce the time and date correctly without mistake, and then the 6 o’clock news.

It often happens that the DJ has no prior preparation, too late to play the national anthem, incorrect date announcement, i.e.  Today is a Saturday, but announced as Friday. The excuse is as the calendar is no updated.

广播电台每天24小时发音，只是从早上六点钟开始才有播音员主持节目，从子夜到凌晨六点钟，是无人的播音，播歌前和播歌后不说演唱者和歌名。好多不明事理的听众要求在播歌前和播歌后提一下歌曲的演唱者和歌名，不得要领，那是技术问题。

事前准备是很重要的。早上六点钟开始播音，一定要准时播国歌，准确的报时间和日期，再报新闻。

常常发生的事是，没有事前准备，过了时间，来不及播国歌，报错日期，今天是星期六，却说是星期五。那是日历牌还没有撕下的问题。

忍耐

忍耐

感谢赞美主，11月23日，在基督渔人团契，成年团契小组聚会，三位弟兄和三位姐妹，我们六人，从下午四点到六点半，分享主基督耶穌的爱心两个半小时。通过分享，我们领受到基督徒要有像主基督耶穌的爱心，有了对人的爱心我们就不容易被激怒。

歌罗西书 3：12 – 13，所以你们既是神的选民，圣洁蒙爱的人，就要存（原文作穿下同）怜悯，恩慈，谦虚，温柔，忍耐的心。倘若这人与那人有嫌隙，总要彼此包容，彼此饶恕。主怎样饶恕了你们，你们也要怎样饶恕人。

有一位国民服役军士，庆祝完成两年全职国民服役那天，小便在一位军官的床褥上，他一定是长期忍受着那位军官无理的疟待或对他不满，要泄愤才干出这行为。还好，小便在军官的床褥上，没有闹出人命，军事法庭判他监禁和降级。可怜在好多年前，一名新兵要泄愤，用莱佛枪射杀一名上士，没法回头，成了千古恨。

我们基督徒若要渴望增强忍耐力，必须注意生活上要求我们忍耐的每一方面。从恶意伤害以至看似无心的开玩笑。其中包括嘲讽，蔑视，侮辱，不公平的指责，甚至公然的迫害。

说者无心，听者自己对号入座。三国时，属汉有三员大将，关羽，周仓和关平。当有人称颂关羽说：‘面赤心亦赤，须长义更长’。周仓和关平就很生气，因为两人的外貌，周仓是短须黑面，关平是白面无须。所以不要因为别人的言语生气。

那天我去看牙医例常检查，11点30分到诊所，招待护士让我等了15分钟才为我登记拿号码，从拿了号码11点45分，等到12点45分才见到牙医。我在等候时想，在装修前这家诊所是很守时的，一定在约会时间前就为我服务。我的约会时间是12点10分，到了12点30分，我有点忍耐不住了，幸亏我开始向神祷告，我没有发怒。

在受苦时, 我们基督徒应把问题交托神，向神祷告，神必主持公道。

帖撒罗尼迦后书 1：6 - 7，神既是公义的，就必将患难报应那加患难给你们的人。也必使你们这受患难的人，与我们同得平安。

出埃及记 34：6 - 7，耶和华在他面前宣告说，耶和华，耶和华，是有怜悯有恩典的神，不轻易发怒，并有丰盛的慈爱和诚实。为千万人存留慈爱，赦免罪孽，过犯，和罪恶，万不以有罪的为无罪，必追讨他的罪，自父及子，直到三，四代。

一位姐妹分享说，某些人我一看到他邋遢的外表，就想要避开他，怎样会去爱他? 蔡千杰老师细心的分享了主基督耶穌的爱心，不同于亲情之爱，不同于男女之爱，那是一种彼此包容和饶恕，是一个有怜悯，恩慈，谦虚，温柔，忍耐的心。

愿主保守，赐福予主内弟兄姐妹，使我有一个有怜悯，恩慈，谦虚，温柔，忍耐的心。

滋润灵命读圣经

彼得后书1:20 -21， 第一要紧的，该知道经上所有的预言没有可随私意解说的；因为预言从来没有出于人意的，乃是人被圣灵感动，说出　神的话来。

提摩太后书3:15 – 17，并且知道你是从小明白圣经；这圣经能使你因信基督耶稣有得救的智慧。圣经都是　神所默示的（注：或作“凡　神所默示的圣经”），于教训、督责、使人归正、教导人学义都是有益的，叫属　神的人得以完全，预备行各样的善事。

七大益:

1.    得救的智慧：圣经能使罪人得着智慧，知道自己需要神所赐的恩典，认识救恩的方法和确据。

2.    教训：是指基要的教训和真理，是我们信心的根基，并坚固信徒的信心。

3.    督责：圣经不但启示真理，它同时揭露一切的错谬（明辨异端，异教，世俗思想）。它好比一条铅垂把一切与圣经相违的邪恶暴露出来。

4.    使人归正：圣经使信徒按它的启示来纠正邪恶的思想和行为；又引导信徒改正错误，顺从神的旨意。

5.    教导人学义：圣经鼓励信徒过着道德，诚实，正直，自制和诚恳的生活。这样就可以把福音推荐给他生活圈子中尚未得救的人。这些美德成了他生活中的特征，不论是在家庭，社交，工作或聚会的圈子里。

6.    使基督徒成熟：是指在主基督耶稣的恩典和知识上成长和成熟。这种成长包括了个人对寻找和行神旨意的经验(追求和经历神的旨意)，使信徒有资格教导那些在信心上比自己年轻的。

7.    预备行各样的善事：神要祂的儿女装备齐（读圣经），好事奉祂的旨意。

0556 - 0621hrs, It was was drizzling, but my daily walking exercise did not cancel. There were covered walkways linked between HDB flats basement. I took 25 minutes to walk 2 rounds, about 1.8 km.

At my HDB estate, there were no shops but area reserved for activities for the residents at the basement of the HDB flats, and liked with covered walkways.

Not only the HDB flats’ lifts do not stop on every floor, but also there was no public toilets at the basement. Unique Singapore.

During morning walk this morning, I saw an old man, possibly could not be controlled any further, urinating at the corner of the basement.

Lifts stopping on every floor has been slowly rectified, when the HDB also build public toilets at the basement of HDB flats?

We have people cleaning HDB flats basement, to clean public toilets do not pose a big problem.

0556 – 0621hrs, 天下着毛毛雨，我每天步行运动是风雨不改的。步行有盖走道和组屋地下层2周，大约1.8公里。花费25分钟.

我家每座组屋地下层不是商店，而是保留给居民活动的公用空间，每座组屋之间有有盖走道连接。

独特的新加坡，组屋不只是电梯不在每层楼停，在组屋地下层也没有公厕。

今天早上晨运时，我看见一位老人家，可能太急了，在组屋地下层墙角随地小便。

电梯不在每层楼停的不便慢慢纠正了, 什么时候也在组屋地下层建公厕。

我们有人打扫组屋地下层，加上清洗公厕不会有大问题。

回首37年在炮兵, 第45回: 专业军士

早年的‘非委任军官’或称为‘士官’，现在称为‘专业军士’。士官在兵士的眼中是有权威的长官，中士发出的命令，兵士们莫敢不从。士官是军队的脊骨。

2013年，新加坡武装部队45周年，却有一位专业军士，庆祝完成两年全职国民服役，小便在军官的床褥上，他一定是受到那位军官无理的疟待或对他不满，要泄愤才干这弱夫的行为。这只是他个人不明事理和愚笨行为，和专业军士（士官）的品质没有关连。专业军士还是军队的脊骨。

还好，小便在军官的床褥上，没有闹出人命，军事法庭判他监禁和降级。可怜在1979年，发生了一件惊天动地的新闻，一名新兵用莱佛枪射杀一名上士，那才没法回头。

管人和被人管都不是一件容易的事。

从27/10/1975到16/10/1978，我在第24炮兵营（24SA），我的军阶是上士长（Staff Sergeant, 简写Ssg），职务是班长（Section Commander） ，我部下有12名兵士。所以，虽然是上士长，我却是做一名中士就能胜任的职务，大才小用。

我也被委任为营步操指导员（UDI, Unit Drill Instructor），我负责24SA全部步操课目。

1977年，不只是我自己的班（Section），我也轻而易举的赢得多数24SA兵士的尊敬。当他们庆祝完成两年全职国民服役，没有人在我的床褥上小便，还赠送我牌匾表达尊敬。

管人和被人管都不是一件容易的事。希望为人长官者的和为人下属者，好自为之，行事前要三思，不可重蹈前人的覆辙。

37 years served in Arty 45

The 'Non-commissioned officers' or 'NCOs' in the early years are now renamed as 'Specialists'. In the eyes of the soldiers the NCOs are commanders with authority, orders from NCOs to soldiers have to be executed without question. As the saying, NCOs are the backbone of the army.

In 2013, the Singapore Armed Forces has just turned 45th anniversary, there was a Specialist who celebrated his completion of 2 years full-time national service by urinating on a bed of his officer. He might have been unreasonably abused by the officer or he might have been discontented with the officer, and just wanted to vent his anger. That was only an individual stupidity behavior, and the professionalism of the Specialist Corp has not been affected.

Fortunate enough, the specialist was just urinating on the officer's mattress, and not resorted to an act of violent, and the court martial had sentenced him to detention and demotion. Unfortunately, in 1979 a recruit who took his rifle to shoot at his Platoon Sergeant and killed him. Can never be turned back.

Specialists in the SAF must learn how to receive and issue orders.

From 27/10/1975 to 16/10/1978, I was in 24SA with the rank of Staff Sergeant, and holding an appointment as  Meteo Section Commander. I had 12 men in my section. So, as a Staff Sergeant, I was competent for the job for a section of 12 men.

I had been appointed as UDI (Unit Drill Instructor), and I had to conduct all drill lessons for all the platoons in 24SA.

In 1977, not only my Meteo Section, but also soldiers from all the platoons in 24SA, I had won the soldiers respect. When they celebrated the completion of 2 years full-time national service, no one urinating on my bed, and to express their respect for me, they presented plaques to me.

Specialists are sandwiched between receive orders and issue orders. Surely very stressful.  So, approach your RSM, seek his/her advice, do not do stupid thing on your ORD.

Refresher

On November 9, 2013, when I pass by the National Museum of Singapore, I saw a huge painting hung on the building that drew my attention, as there were other things to attended to on the day, I did not go into the museum, but just took a few shots with my camera.

A week later on November 15, 2013, I specifically went to the museum, I wanted to take a closer look at the painting. In the museum exhibition hall,  as I admired the painting, my tears shed.

I recalled in the 1970s, besides reading (it should be memorizing) the Lesson Formats to prepare my lessons as an Instructor, the book, 'Youth in the Army', was one of my textbooks to study English, and I read the book as the Bible every day. 'Youth in the Army' used this painting on its cover.

Foreign students and immigrants from China, many had put in great effort in learning English. In the army, the Chinese-educated, we too. I noticed that Chinese-educated officers memorizing English vocabulary. One Chinese-educated officer, his small black pocket book was used to jot down vocabulary during his cause of duty.

Today, I took out the 'Youth in the Army', to re-read and memorize a short paragraph every day.

温故知新

2013年11月9日，我经过新加坡国家博物馆时，看见一幅巨画挂在建筑物的墙壁使我产生无限感慨，当天有别的事要处理，没有进去参观，只是用照相机拍了几张‘到此一游’的相片。

过了一星期后, 2013年11月15日，我特地再去博物馆，近距离欣赏这幅画。看着看着，热泪就流下。

回想当年（1970年代），每天除了读(死背)课程材料本子（Lesson Formats）准备上课外, 有一本书，‘Youth in the Army’我每天像读圣经似的死背来学英文。‘Youth in the Army’就用了这幅画做的封面。

从中国来的学生和移民，都很努力的学好英文。1970年代的华校生也是一样，在军队中除了我，我也注意到很多华校生军官也死背英文词汇（vocabulary）。有一位华校生军官，口袋里的黑色小本子，就用来记英文词汇。

温故知新，从今天起，我重新找出‘Youth in the Army’这本书，再重温当年的苦与乐，每天背它一小段。
