PARENTS PICKING UP PAMPERED NSF CAUSE SEVERE JAM @ WHITE
SANDS
I was an NCO in 1970 - 1980. I was TAW BSM and Instructor
at Kangaw Camp. I had 60 - 80 NS soldiers directly under my care and trained by
me throughout the year, batches after batches, courses after courses.
Very frequently, I had to perform weekend (on Sunday)
duty, i.e. BOS (Bn Orderly Sergeant). During my BOS tour of duty on Sunday
night, I liked to station at Toronto Gate, the Main entrance of Kangaw Camp. I
saw parents sending their sons back to camp after weekend break. Some returned
camp as early as 1900 - 2000hrs, but also some as late as 2230hrs, trainees had
to report back to camp before 2300hrs, trained soldiers by 2359hrs.
I knew, my soldiers were sons of Singapore, so I take
care of them when they were with me from Monday to 1300hrs Saturday.
